Do I need a GP referral?

How much does an assessment cost?

Our adult ADHD assessment costs £595. This includes a pre-assessment screening call, a 60-90 minute diagnostic assessment with a consultant psychiatrist, a comprehensive diagnostic report, and a post-assessment follow-up call. Payment plans are available.

Who carries out the assessments?

All assessments are carried out by GMC-registered consultant psychiatrists who specialise in ADHD. They have extensive experience in diagnosing ADHD in adults, including late diagnosis and presentations common in women.

How long does the assessment take?

The assessment itself lasts 60-90 minutes via video call. You'll receive your diagnostic report within 14 days. The entire process from enquiry to diagnosis typically takes 2-3 weeks.

Will my GP accept a private diagnosis?

Yes, in the vast majority of cases. Our assessments follow NICE guidelines and are carried out by consultant psychiatrists. We provide a detailed report that makes it easy for your GP to continue your care under shared care arrangements.

Can I get medication through Clearmind?

Yes. If medication is recommended as part of your diagnosis, we offer a medication titration service where our psychiatrist works with you and your GP to find the right medication and dose. This is an additional service.

What happens if I'm not diagnosed with ADHD?

Not everyone who is assessed will receive an ADHD diagnosis, and that's okay. Your report will still explain your results and may suggest other avenues to explore. The assessment fee remains the same regardless of outcome.

Is the assessment done online or in person?

All assessments are conducted via secure video call, so you can be assessed from the comfort of your own home. This also means we can see patients across England, regardless of location.

What qualifications do your psychiatrists have?

All our assessing clinicians are GMC-registered consultant psychiatrists with specialist training in ADHD. They hold CCT (Certificate of Completion of Training) in psychiatry and have extensive experience in diagnosing adult ADHD.

How is your assessment different from an online screening quiz?

Online quizzes are screening tools — they can suggest whether ADHD is worth investigating, but they cannot diagnose. Our assessment is a full clinical diagnostic assessment carried out by a consultant psychiatrist, following NICE guidelines. It's the same standard as an NHS assessment.

Can I be assessed if I live outside England?

We primarily serve patients in England. If you live in Scotland, Wales, or Northern Ireland, please contact us to discuss your options as the healthcare pathways differ.

What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule?

We understand that plans change. You can reschedule free of charge with at least 48 hours' notice. Cancellations with less than 48 hours' notice may incur a fee. Full details are in our terms of service.

Will my employer find out about my diagnosis?

No. Your assessment and diagnosis are completely confidential. We only share information with your GP (with your written consent). We never share information with employers unless you specifically ask us to provide a letter.

Can you diagnose other conditions alongside ADHD?

Our assessments are focused on ADHD. However, our psychiatrists are experienced in recognising co-occurring conditions such as anxiety, depression, and autism. If they suspect another condition, they'll discuss this with you and recommend appropriate next steps.
